Speaking Up When Something is Wrong: The Right Choice is Not Always the Easy Choice
In this workshop, Joe Friday, Public Sector Integrity Commissioner of Canada, will discuss his Office’s work as the external whistleblowing agency for the federal public sector. Coming forward to make a disclosure of wrongdoing remains a difficult and potentially risky decision. Why is this? And what needs to be done to change this? Mr. Friday will share his observations based on his experience, including the results of focus group testing and a recently released research paper on the fear of reprisal commissioned by his office.

Au cours de l’atelier, Joe Friday, commissaire à l’intégrité du secteur public du Canada, discutera du travail que l’organisation accomplit en tant que mécanisme externe de dénonciation pour le secteur public fédéral. La divulgation d’actes répréhensibles n’est toujours pas aisée et peut s’avérer une décision risquée. Pourquoi en est-il ainsi? Que doit-on faire pour changer les choses? M. Friday fera part d’observations fondées sur son expérience, y compris des conclusions tirées des tests du groupe de discussion et du document de recherche sur la crainte de représailles que le Commissariat a commandé et qui a récemment été publié.
